Photo certificate: Nicola Campigli, Saint Tropez, 20.6.81, no. 8162066 Provenance: Galleria dello Scudo, Verona Marked by the impressions drawn from Egyptian art of the everyday, which Campigli gathered on his visits to Louvre in Paris, and from his concern with Etruscan and Roman painting, the female figur was of enormous importance for the entire oeuvre of this Italian artist. „Why am I not satisfied with the truth in my investigations, but instead strive for the perfect object which I want to paint into eternity (…) I have already searched for the ultimate formula for painting a face; I won`t stop searching for it.“ (exh. cat.
